Instructions to Task 1

Identifying your client base

  1. Work in pairs (one Aboriginal person and one non-Aboriginal person).
  2. Draw a map of the schools in your district and the types of populations at each school.
  3. Be sure to include the different parent and community groups.
  4. Be sure to include students and parents/communities from all cultural backgrounds.
  5. When each pair has developed their map. Work as a group to prepare a larger map of the whole region.
Objectives - this task should help you to:
  • Get a better idea of the cultural and linguistic variations in your schools, and
  • Learn about any important differences between schools in your district.
