Instructions to Task 3

Finding Strategies to fit Problems

  1. Work in pairs (one Aboriginal person and one non-Aboriginal person).
  2. Using the handout, find and bookmark each of the strategies in the books Solid English and Two-Way English.
  3. Read each one and make up a typical situation in a school where you would advise the use of this strategy.
  4. Describe the situation where each strategy might be used.
  5. Present your 'situations' to your group and develop a set of 'situations' from the group as a whole.
Objectives - this task should help you to:
  • Get used to finding information in these books,
  • Develop ways to show teachers how to use the books, and
  • Gain skills in matching situations/problems with solutions.
