You need to begin your participation in Stage 1 of this action research project by looking at the way language is used outside your classroom.

We are asking you to investigate authentic language use in a range of possible communicative environments which we have exemplified.

Just look at one particular environment and make notes, use a tape-recorder or a video camera to capture examples of how language is used.
