The Literature Review
The literature review has three major functions:
- Introducing the field: Before you begin it is appropriate to tell your reader some general information about the field.
- Reviewing and categorising the field of research: The literature needs to be made manageable for yourself and understandable or the reader. This is done by categorising what you have found.
- Creating a niche for your research: The literature should be presented in such a way that it shows the need for your research. You need to create your own niche.
When describing the field of research through publications in that area there are a number of important aspects of each piece of research that should be considered.
