Research Question
Research questions stipulate the basic inquiry of the research. They tell us what is being investigated. Research questions are of two major types:
- Specific and demonstrating in advance the steps to be taken in the research. These are typically quantitative research questions which specify types and sizes of populations and variables to be considered.
- Broad and general research questions allow more the specific direction (questions) to unfold as the research proceeds. These types of research questions allow for previously 'unexplored' situations which might generate a range of possibilities. In this case, strategies for analysis will reveal themselves as the data is collected.
