The Results chapter presents the product of a recent analysis phase. Here the writer must differentiate between the actual analysis (which took place in the recent past and produced results which interpret a more distant past) and the presentation of this analysis in the form of various tables, graphs and histograms (in the present tense), e.g.

• As Table 3 shows that a greater proportion of female respondents claimed to have had experienced....

• The above histogram shows the distribution of Year 3 and Year 4 students' achievement in the three different reading comprehension tasks carried out at the beginning of the term...
