Project 5 - Tackling Talk in Government Departments/Agencies
What sort of vocabulary is needed to communicate successfully with a government department or agency?
Do you need extra information on the types of vocabulary required for this type of communication?
Research Question:
- What sort of vocabulary is needed when communicating with a government department or agency?
- How much of this vocabulary do your students already have?
- How much of this vocabulary do they need to learn?
You might also need to review the information on functions of language, social interaction and learning.
Method:
- Note the vocabulary use that you observed in the government department or agency that you studied.
- Note in your DWP your students' current knowledge and use of these words.
- Note how you would normally record your assessment of this vocabulary, e.g., would you:
- note them as anecdotes,
- record them in a portfolio,
- conduct a formal test,
- note them in your DWP, or
- not normally assess or record them.
