Text Box: Mark Bourne was born in Kent in the UK, sometime in the late sixties. He may or may not be a Capricorn. His actual age is hidden within a sealed envelope that is to be opened in the event of his death. This same envelope also includes his real weight and a list of the various diets that have failed him over the years.
Mark has been involved in theatre since the age of 9. His love of acting began with an opportunity to run around in an olde-worlde nightshirt and the realization that showing-off was allowed. He progressed from there to roles where he got to shout a lot, laugh a lot and occasionally even run around in a dress. This love of costume is not weird in any way, because he never shaved his legs, even when wearing the aforementioned dress.
Text Box: Mark now lives in Australia, and in recent years has started directing for his local amateur theatre company. He enjoys directing because he’s excellent at telling people what to do, as well as being very good at not throttling actors who can’t remember which door they enter from. He is still trying to perfect his “That’s the most idiotic suggestion I’ve ever heard” look, whilst simultaneously smiling, but feels he’s almost there.
“A Better You” is his first play. It was originally intended to be a psychodrama about the political machinations of a group of women in a communo-idealised futuristic society. However, that turned out to be a bit short on jokes and so it became a comedy/farce set in a Community Hall instead.
If there’s nothing much on the Telly, he may write something else...possibly!
