America
has always had strains of isolationism, nativism, chauvinism, puritanism
and religious fanaticism. But most of our leaders, even our devout presidents,
have tried to keep these impulses under control. Not this crew. They
don't call to our better angels; they summon our nasty devils.

The
results of the presidential elections in the USA and the thought of
the next four years of USA Empire under the religious control of Bush
II is chilling the souls of the official Left throughout the World.
We, the unaligned sceptics, grieve and regret the formidable lost opportunity.
After the first comments dictated by the trauma of the ill-founded broken
dreams, we must re-organize our thinking. Defeats are learning opportunities.
A good starting point is the article by Henry Kissinger which appeared
in the US press on November 1st (before the vote), published by La Stampa
on November 4th (after the vote) where, on the assumption of Bush’s
victory, Kissinger outlines the revolutionary, unprecedented conditions
that will mark the planetary geopolitical agenda for the coming presidential
term:
* Global terrorism.
* Diffusion of technologies of mass destruction of unprecedented power.
The new president, says Kissinger, will have to “define and maintain”
an international system capable of responding to these revolutionary
and challenging circumstances.
Kissinger says that only through a total commitment of all the interested
parties (I believe at the national and international level) can such
a challenging program be tackled. Kissinger then goes through the main
points of the agenda:
Iraq
According to Kissinger: Iraq is not a problem restricted to the United
States but is a problem for all democratic countries, so everybody must
pitch in to solve the present crisis. The US are waging a war to protect
the whole World and must not be left alone. The challenge is to set
up the conditions for safe and secure elections in January and to prevent
a civil war among Kurds, Siites and Sunnis organising a federal structure
that will guarantee the three ethnic groups.
Global Terrorism
Global terrorism implies preventive attack by necessity: The international
community must share this philosophy. On this ground we must recover
multilateralism: “No single nation, no matter how powerful, can
define an international system on its own”, according to Kissinger.
Nuclear weapons proliferation
The most sinister problem, says Kissinger: How to stop North Korea and
Iran in their nuclear rush and how to prevent the acquisition of these
technologies by other countries or terrorist organizations. What could
be the reaction of the World to a nuclear blast of unknown origin? Kissinger
anxiously speculates: when will the nuclear Powers decide that nuclear
proliferation must be stopped?
China
The advent of China to the role of economic superpower worries Kissinger
and he thinks that the US must uphold a firm opposition to hegemonic
endeavours by China in Asia: the dialogue between China and the USA
must be kept at a “high profile” on common long term scopes
to avoid show-downs and direct confrontation. According to Kissinger
this should be possible given the wisdom and caution of the Chinese
leaders.
Europe
The dialogue with Europe also is a must for the United States according
to the Kissinger doctrine: abstract multilateralism and self indulging
unilateralism are both losing strategies.
An arguable scenario
So much for Kissinger’s thoughts and his agenda for the coming
presidential term. I think that the scenario depicted allows a double
understanding: apparently supportive of Bush in fact is a serious critical
blow. The Iraqi unilateral initiative, the hostility and arrogance towards
Europe (France and Germany), the leniency towards North Korean nuclear
dalliances are all mistakes.
In fact reading his notes one can hardly understand how Kissinger can
say he supported Bush since on all the issues listed this president
has been able to cook up irreversible catastrophic bungles. Nevertheless,
I would not write off a possible ultraconservative sense of his critique.
It could be worth a more detailed analysis.
Maybe we should accept Kissinger as is. He would have been a staunch
supporter of a popular leader like Gengis Kahn in his times, a man who,
thanks only to the religion of his fathers, was saved from being Hitler’s
hitman. Speaking of Kissinger it is always mandatory to remember his
criminal record when he was in charge of the US foreign policy with
Johnson and Nixon. A man is not only what he says now: he is his history
as well. (“Je me souvien” as you can read on the Quebec licence
plates)
Surprisingly there are no references in Kissinger’s manual to the
looming oil depletion that will mark the next decade, nor reference
to the unprecedented US public deficit: not even equalled by the financial
nightmare of 1929.
In this area one must record the dire necessity for the US to keep the
dollar as the oil purchasing currency: if OPEC countries had their way,
as they grudgingly admit, they would gladly shift to the Euro (as Saddam
Hussein did) and that would be a financial disaster for the United States
economy. In fact, thanks to monetary manoeuvres the Federal Bank printing
greenbacks can supply the American People with free oil (the cost of
the paper) letting the countries of the rest of the World pay, selling
goods and valuable commodities to get the inflated dollars needed to
buy their oil.
So it is almost transparent that the war in Iraq is a war against Europe
and against the Euro: This evidence has not yet surfaced, but is due
to explode in the very near future. Spain has got the message and Poland
too. France and Germany never had any doubt. Italy is still sleeping.
Great Britain has not adopted the Euro.
The profits for OPEC countries, thanks to the re-evaluation of the Euro
against the US Dollar (25%) would have been enormous. These profits
have silently gone, instead, into the pockets of the US economy (i.e.
the American People) and are probably supplying the cash for the war
in Iraq. A huge resource that, instead of balancing the “unequal
exchange” with the Third World, is widening the gap and increasing
the offensive privilege.
The world vision outlined by the Kissinger manual is that of a planetary
catastrophe where the misery of the poor and weak and the arrogance
of the rich and strong will have no limits for a long time ahead.
Within these two ends Islamic and Christian terror will be unleashed
with all the other wars: nationalistic, tribal, ethnic, for drugs and
for oil.
Kissinger’s banal suggestion seems to me like “more of the
same and possibly worse”. Thus: preventive bombing of Iran and
North Korea (this one risky: a bit late for it now), world police regime
to control global terrorism, torture of the suspects in prison camps,
global electronic communications surveillance, secret files on everybody,
paid snitches…Patriot Act all over.
Kissinger may appear “a correct technical pragmatist”, an
astute “engineer of political power”, but he seems to me an
inherently dangerous simplistic thug.
No sign of any concern for the true matrixes of terrorism: injustice
and hunger. Siite clerics can preach the jihad and issue fatwas and
the moronic hallucinated minds of the ignorant thugs will behead and
degorge on TV in the name of the almighty Allah, but the formidable
basic support to them comes from a world that knows only a future of
hunger and destitution and a present of violent deception.
Tackle that problem and the jihad will again become a dialectic exercise.
Cut the claws of the Israeli Nazis and the torrent of suicidal bombers
will dry up.
Once the problem is tackled at source, the deadly routine will have
to be taken care of, but there is no sense in dealing with the routine
if one does not control the unleashing matrix first. Rule number one
- To fight terrorism is not to amplify it through the media. The second
rule is to act with the same secrecy as terrorists. Up to now the contrary
has been true, thanks to the tragic bungles of the American Intelligence
Agencies and to the puerile behavioural patterns of the media.
Wishful thinking about China should be avoided by Kissinger and by future
American presidents: Confronted with the choice of starving three billion
Chinese to allow 800 million Americans and Europeans to squander limited
resources, the Chinese leaders will certainly play the dire coarse game
they have always been able to deal.
The economic power of China is a heavy threat for US finance heavily
indebted with Chinese exporters. Chinese oil demand unchecked can jeopardize
oil supply to America: when the chips are down no “high profile”
dialogue will hold. They will go for the jugular.
Iranian leaders know quite well they are the next target of the “preventive
war” discipline. They also know that the only chance for them to
avoid the announced aggression is to do as North Korea, India, Pakistan
and Israel - Get some credible nuclear deterrent.
For an alternative World vision you need a culture and a compassion
which are definitely not the tools of the Bushist leading clique: “more
of the same” is more likely to be easier for them to understand,
even more so if it comes with huge war profits.
When the price paid in the coming presidential term becomes unbearable
(body bags, inflation, taxes, loss of personal freedom, police regime,
overwhelming neo-McCarthyism, isolation and international shame, environmental
pollution… American voters may eventually rediscover their true
values and not the values hypocritically voiced by Bush (abortion and
gay marriage) with the vulgar and shameful complicity of all the American
churches.
We, the sceptical utopians, can only wait and count the bodies.
If anybody wants to accuse me of “utopian abstraction” he
is welcome and this would be my choice: Let Iran and North Korea make
the first nuclear move and then react.
If ten million casualties are the price we must pay not to have the
responsibility of being the first to unleash the final World War, so
be it. Let us pay: the bottom line will never be written and if by chance
it should be written there will not be many interested readers anyway
Neither Iran nor North Korea will ever accept the challenge: national
“seppuku” is not in their culture.
Kissinger’s suggestion to seek a dialogue with Europe is definitely
“US Imperial” (I decide, you cooperate) and not quite the
outcome of a genuine will to work together. The result will be further
isolation of the US and deeper discontent and grudge for the arrogance
and contempt of international agreements and treaties that Bush has
breached with shameless challenge (Kyoto, Steel, Soft Timber, …)
Bush stole the last elections (Florida 2000) with dirty tricks and legal
manipulations and he stole this election by systematically lying, taking
advantage of a nation still traumatized by 9/11. The values he upholds
are the values of a bigotted medieval warlord. The shame of the support
given to his electoral campaign by all the American churches will never
be forgotten.
The cultural responsibility
Bush’s and his Republican friends’ responsibilities do not
absolve the American and World liberal opposition: a movement split,
plagiarised by schematic mercantile theories, afraid to support the
original and glorious platforms of social solidarity and understanding
of “diversities”, prone to conformist bigotry, an affluent
liberal movement eager to capture the votes of the “center”
to the point of losing its own original identity and waiving any political
credibility.
The answer we seek is how can a cultural-political disaster of this
kind and magnitude happen: 9/11 trauma dramatically and purposefully
amplified, catholic-evangelic moralism and bigotry on abortion and gay
marriage, the sectarian ferocity of mass media, the crass personal charisma
of Bush… All these things won, despite the blatantly evident facts:
Lies about Iraq, Rumsfeld’s arrogant mistakes, Pentagon blunders,
criminal incompetence of intelligence agencies, torture at Guantanamo
and Abu Ghraib, economy disaster, unfair taxation, cheating in the last
election, unemployment, scandals (Enron, Worldcom…), war profiteering
in Iraq of Halliburton and other “crony” contractors…
If one subtracts to the votes Bush received the votes obtained through
this monstrous manipulation and through the fake patriotic blackmail,
one can see that it is a false victory. The stolen votes will be the
curse of America in the coming four years and, regrettably, the curse
of the rest of the world too that, thanks to those stolen votes, will
have to contend with a bigoted ignorant dictator, blinded by arrogance
and prejudices, controlled by the need to conceal his mistakes, absolute
chieftain of the most powerful army in the World.
The
deep roots of the disaster
The outcome of the 2004 election is the consequence of a huge gap that
has grown during the last decades to separate the places of critical-ideological
thinking from the “mainstream”. The gap has been filled by
propaganda and instrumental information. With the annihilation of critical
assessment and evaluation skills it has been easy to peddle lies, falsehoods,
instrumental information and manipulate the mass of conformist lazy
voters.
Such a wide gap between leading culture and “mainstream” requires
a serious consideration: the ignorance of the masses has origins and
motivations that are a diffuse political responsibility. George Orwell
(1984, Animal Farm) and Aldous Huxley (Brave New World) warned of the
danger in the thirties and forties.
The whole education system of the US needs a radical makeover. Unfortunately
it will take two generations to see the results.
During the next 4 years America will pay dearly for this defeat of reason:
The effects of the attack on the towers proved to be much more serious
and deeper than Osama would have ever hoped or thought. Thanks to the
instrumental amplification promoted by Bush and by the Republican Party,
Al Qaeda will strive and spread throughout the World on the wings of
the collateral damage provoked by the fierce repression of a frustrated
and exasperated US Army in Iraq and by the Israeli Nazis in Palestine.
Europe will see the growth of Islamic terrorist initiatives provoked
by the “fatwas” of the Imams and Ayatollahs (the assassination
of Theo van Gogh in Holland is a menacing sign). The Iraqi messy debacle
will no longer be concealed by the lies of subservient TV journalists;
Alan Greenspan will not be able to stop the consequences of the frightful
deficit of the US national debt; oil depletion inflation will set in
a domino of financial disasters; unemployment and poverty will make
the American cities unliveable; police regime will transform the entire
country into a huge prison camp; a wave of fierce neo-McCarthyism will
oppress intelligence and thinking.
The American Dream has already become the American Nightmare.
Drawn by the catastrophe, Bush (the malevolent Mickey Mouse, according
to the corrosive definition given by Arundhati Roy) will become more
arrogant and mean in a tragic vicious cycle.
Many Americans who voted for him will not have the courage to change
their minds.
Conclusion
This gloomy black scenario must not discourage the sceptical non conformist
lay observers: when the going gets tough, the tough get going…
Our lay sceptical commitment has the responsibility to fight for the
realisation of the project of a World where it is possible to live without
gods, without bibles, without gospels, without korans, without non-existing
revealed truths and without false revealers of non-existing truths,
where the empty words of perverse philosophers do not poison life with
fake sins and guilt.

Il risultato
delle elezioni in America e la proiezione dei prossimi 4 anni di Impero
USA sotto la guida religiosa di Bush II sta gelando gli animi della sinistra
ufficiale e DOC mondiale. Noi laici non omologhi e scettici guardiamo
con compunzione e tristezza.
Dopo le prime analisi fatte sotto il trauma del crollo di una speranza
mal fondata bisogna riorganizzare il pensiero: le sconfitte servono per
capire.
Partirei dall’articolo di Kissinger (La Stampa del 4 Novembre, significativamente
pubblicato negli Stati Uniti il 1 di Novembre e cioè prima delle
elezioni) che in sintesi, presumendo la vittoria del suo candidato-presidente,
enuncia le condizioni “rivoluzionarie” e inedite che connotano
l’attuale situazione geopolitica del Pianeta:
* Il terrorismo globale
* La diffusione di tecnologie di distruzione a distanza d’ineguagliata
potenza
Il nuovo Presidente, dice Kissinger, dovrà sforzarsi di “definire
e mantenere” un sistema internazionale che riscontri queste nuove
e rivoluzionarie circostanze.
Dice Kissinger che solo un impegno assoluto di tutte le parti in causa
(ritengo nazionali e internazionali) potrà consentire di realizzare
un programma di questa portata. Kissinger elenca poi i nodi essenziali:
Iraq
Dice Kissinger: l’Iraq non è un problema che riguarda solo
gli Stati Uniti ma tutti i paesi democratici ed è quindi necessario
che tutti s’impegnino a fondo per risolvere la situazione di crisi
attuale, gli Stati Uniti si stanno facendo carico di una Guerra a tutela
degli interessi mondiali e non possono essere lasciati soli.
Garantire la sicurezza per lo svolgimento delle elezioni a Gennaio e impedire
l’innesco di una Guerra civile tra Sunniti, Sciiti e Kurdi con una
struttura federale che garantisca i tre gruppi.
Il Terrorismo globale
Il terrorismo globale rende la scelta dell’attacco preventivo una
scelta praticamente obbligata: bisogna che questa filosofia sia condivisa
dalla comunità internazionale e in questo senso va recuperata la
“multilateralità”: “nessuna nazione, per quanto
potente, può definire da sola il sistema internazionale”,
prosegue il Kissinger.
La proliferazione di armi nucleari
Il problema più insidioso, dice Kissinger: come fare a bloccare
Corea del Nord e Iran nella loro corsa e come fare a bloccare che altri
paesi o gruppi terroristici entrino in possesso di tali strumenti? Come
immaginiamo la reazione del mondo ad un’esplosione nucleare d’origine
ignota? Kissinger si chiede preoccupato quando si decideranno le potenze
nucleari a decidere che la proliferazione di armi nucleari va bloccata?
La Cina
L’ascesa della Cina al rango di superpotenza economica preoccupa
Kissinger che sostiene la necessità che l’America debba mantenere
la sua rigida opposizione all’egemonia della Cina in Asia: il dialogo
fra Cina e USA deve essere mantenuto aperto di “alto profilo”
su obbiettivi comuni di lungo termine per evitare lo show-down e lo scontro
diretto. Dice Kissinger che questo dovrebbe essere possibile perché
i dirigenti Cinesi sono saggi e prudenti.
L’Europa
Anche il dialogo con l’Europa è un imperativo ineludibile
per gli Stati Uniti. La dialettica tra multilateralismo astratto e unilateralismo
fine a se stesso va superata: secondo il Kissinger sono ambedue perdenti.
Una analisi da denunciare
Fin qui il pensiero di Kissinger e le sue indicazioni per il nuovo quadriennio
presidenziale.
Credo che il quadro dipinto da Kissinger consenta una doppia lettura.
Apparentemente favorevole a Bush in realtà è pesantemente
critico: errore l’iniziativa unilaterale in Iraq, errore l’atteggiamento
ostile nei confronti dell’Europa, errore la tolleranza dell’esercizio
nucleare Nord-Coreano.
Infatti leggendo le sue note ci si domanda come Kissinger faccia a sostenere
Bush dal momento che su tutti i punti accennati questo presidente è
riuscito a commettere errori irrecuperabili di dimensione catastrofica:
non escludo, peraltro, che la implicita critica di Kissinger sia di marca
ultraconservatrice. Varrebbe la pena indagare a fondo.
Forse è una domanda che non si deve porre al personaggio che ai
suoi tempi avrebbe sicuramente apprezzato un leader popolare come Gengis
Kahn e che solo la religione dei suoi padri ha salvato dall’essere
un epigono di Hitler. Parlando di Kissinger è sempre doveroso ricordare
le sue criminali e sanguinose responsabilità nella gestione della
politica estera Americana con Nixon et al. Un uomo non è solo quello
che dice e racconta via, via: è anche la sua storia.
Sorprende nella analisi di Kissinger la assenza di ogni riferimento alla
crisi petrolifera che connoterà i prossimi dieci anni: non si parla
di corda in casa dell’impiccato? Anche interessante la assenza di
riferimenti alla drammatica situazione del debito pubblico USA. Bisogna
risalire al 1929 per ritrovare nella storia economica degli Stati Uniti
condizioni comparabili.
Su questo versante va registrata la inderogabile esigenza degli Stati
Uniti di mantenere il Dollaro come moneta di scambio per il petrolio:
il passaggio all’Euro, che è una evidente volontà dell’area
OPEC espressa a mezza bocca negli ambienti petroliferi e finanziarii,
significherebbe la catastrofe economica per gli Stati Uniti. Infatti,
grazie al gioco monetario, stampando dollari la Banca Federale garantisce
greggio praticamente gratuito (il costo della carta filigranata) ai consumatori
americani a spese del resto del Mondo che, per acquisire i dollari necessari
a comprare il loro petrolio, deve esportare beni e materie prime di solido
ed effettivo valore.
In questo senso è quasi trasparente che la guerra Irakena è
anche una guerra deel Dollaro USA contro l’Euro e l’Europa:
una crisi non ancora esplicitamente denunciata, ma in scadenza a breve
termine. Se ne sono accorti gli Spagnoli e se ne stanno accorgendo i Polacchi.
I Francesi e i Tedeschi non hanno mai avuto dubbi. Il governo Italiano
dorme, e gli Inglesi non sono nell’area dell’Euro.
Il margine che i paesi OPEC avrebbero realizzato negli ultimi due anni
vendendo in cambio di Euro, grazie alla rivalutazione del 25% di questa
moneta sul Dollaro USA, è immane. La stessa cifra è stata
silenziosamente intascata dall’economia USA e probabilmente serve
per finanziare le spese della guerra in Iraq. Una enorme risorsa che invece
di servire a bilanciare lo “scambio ineguale” con il Terzo Mondo,
aumenta ancora l’ingiusto privilegio.
La visione del mondo tratteggiata dall’analisi Kissingeriana è
quella di una planetaria catastrofe dove la miseria dei deboli e la prevaricazione
armata dei ricchi e forti non avranno limiti per tempi indefiniti.
Fra queste due polarità si scateneranno il terrorismo fondamentalista
islamico e quello cristiano, e le altre guerre di matrice nazionalista,
etnica, tribale, per il controllo della droga e del petrolio.
Il suggerimento di Kissinger è quindi un banale “more of the
same, possibly harder”. Bombe preventive su Iran e Corea del Nord
quindi, stato di polizia mondiale per controllare il terrorismo globale,
torture dei sospetti nei campi di concentramento. Libertà vigilata
al dissenso e alla protesta. Schedature generalizzate, controllo elettronico
delle comunicazioni private, delazione a pagamento… Patriot Act.
Kissinger sarà pragmaticamente corretto e Machiavellicamente un
astuto “tecnico del potere”, ma a me sembra ingenuo, simplista
e inerentemente pericoloso.
Nessuna preoccupazione per le vere matrici del terrorismo che sono l’ingiustizia
e la fame: i chierici sciiti possono predicare la jihad e le povere menti
allucinate possono uccidere e sgozzare in nome della jihad, ma la loro
base di supporto viene dalla disperazione di un mondo che conosce solo
un futuro di fame e di miseria e un presente di prevaricazione violenta.
Aggredisci quel problema e la jihad tornerà ad essere un esercizio
dialettico. Tagliare le unghie ai nazisti Israeliani e il torrente di
suicidal bombers si asciugherà.
Affrontato il problema alle sue origini si tratterà di gestire
la congiuntura, ma non ha senso occuparsi della congiuntura senza affrontare
la matrice scatenante.
La prima regola per combattere il terrorismo è quella di non amplificarlo
mediaticamente, la seconda è quella di agire con la stessa segretezza
dei terroristi: finora si è fatto esattamente il contrario, grazie
alla insipienza dei servizi segreti americani e alla stupidità
dei media. Reagire con il silenzio, colpire nel segreto.
Sulla Cina non s’illudano né Kissinger né i futuri
presidenti USA: di fronte alla prospettiva di affamare 3 miliardi di Cinesi
per consentire lo scialo sistematico di risorse a 800 milioni d’Americani
ed Europei anche i dirigenti di Pechino mostreranno la durezza della quale
sono sempre stati capaci.
La potenza economica della Cina è una minaccia pesante per la finanza
Americana patologicamente indebitata con gli esportatori Cinesi, la esigenza
di petrolio della Cina se non viene bloccata mette in forse la disponibilità
di greggio per gli Stati Uniti: quando questi nodi verranno al pettine
non ci sarà “alto profilo” che tenga. Si andrà
alla iugulare senza tanti complimenti.
I dirigenti Iraniani sanno bene di essere il prossimo obbiettivo della
“guerra preventiva” e sanno anche che la loro unica possibilità
di prevenire l’aggressione (annunciata) è quella di fare come
la Corea, l’India, il Pakistan, Israele: attrezzarsi con deterrente
nucleare.
Per una visione alternativa del mondo ci vuole una cultura e una “pietas”
che non sono fra gli strumenti attuali della classe dirigente Bushista:
il more of the same è per loro certamente più facile da
capire, specialmente quando sostenuto da enormi profitti di guerra.
Quando il prezzo pagato in questi altri quattro anni sarà spaventoso
(morti, inflazione, tasse, perdita della libertà personale, stato
poliziesco, maccartismo travolgente, isolamento e censura internazionale,
inquinamento ambientale, oil depletion) gli elettori Americani, forse,
riscopriranno i veri “valori” e non quelli ipocritamente gridati
da Bush (aborto e gay marriage) con la volgare e vergognosa complicità
dei preti americani di tutte le sette.
A noi laici e scettici fanaticamente utopici non resta che aspettare e
contare i morti.
E se qualcuno mi volesse rimproverare di “astrazione utopica”
questa sarebbe la mia scelta: lasciare che Iran e Corea facessero la prima
mossa nucleare e poi reagire.
Se dieci milioni di morti, da qualche parte del mondo, sono il prezzo
da pagare per non avere la responsabilità di scatenare per primi
l’ultimo conflitto mondiale, lo si paghi. Il bilancio conclusivo
non sarà mai fatto: e se fosse fatto non avrà molti lettori
interessati.
Né l’Iran, né la Corea accetteranno mai questa sfida:
il seppuku nazionale non è della loro cultura.
La linea suggerita da Kissinger per la ricerca di una sinergia con l’Europa
è quasi esplicitamente di marca “US imperial” (io decido,
voi partecipate) piuttosto che dettata da una sincera disponibilità
di collaborazione: il risultato sarà ulteriore isolamento degli
Stati Uniti e aumento dell’insofferenza per l’arroganza e lo
scarso rispetto dei trattati internazionali sottoscritti che l’America
di Bush ha praticato, prevaricando il mondo intero con ostentata volontà
di sfida. (Kyoto, Steel, Water, Soft timber etc.)
Bush aveva “rubato” con manipolazioni e brogli il precedente
risultato (Florida 2000) e ha rubato questo risultato con la menzogna
sistematica approfittando di un paese ancora sotto il trauma dell’attentato
alle torri. I “valori” dei quali si vanta sono valori degni
di un vescovo-conte medievale: la vergogna dell’appoggio fornito
da tutte le chiese americane (cattoliche e protestanti) sarà difficilmente
dimenticata.
La responsabilità culturale
Le responsabilità di Bush e dei Repubblicani americani non assolvono
l’opposizione americana e nel mondo: una sinistra divisa, appiattita
sul mercantilismo, paurosa di sostenere gli originali e gloriosi manifesti
di solidarietà sociale e di comprensione del “diverso”,
asservita al conformismo bigotto e all’oscurantismo delle religioni.
Una sinistra “affluent”, affamata di voti al centro al punto
da perdere la sua identità originale.
L’altra domanda che ci si pone è come un disastro politico-culturale
di questo genere e dimensione si possa verificare: il trauma dell’attacco
alle Torri artatamente e parossisticamente alimentato, il moralismo catto-evangelico
sull’aborto e sul matrimonio di coppie omosessuali, l’accanimento
settario dell’infomazione di massa, la paura, il carisma volgare
di Bush….tutte queste cose hanno vinto distruggendo circostanze di
fatto macroscopicamente evidenti: le bugie sull’Iraq, gli errori
di Rumsfeld, gli errori del Pentagono, la criminale imbecillità
della CIA, le torture a Guantanamo e ad Abu Ghraib, il disastro economico,
i brogli nella precedente elezione, la disoccupazione rampante, la tassazione
socialmente iniqua, gli arricchimenti indebiti di Halliburton e degli
altri “contractors” omologhi all’Amministrazione in Iraq…
Se si sottraggono ai voti di Bush, quelli rubati attraverso questa mostruosa
operazione di malversazione informatica e di ricatto pseudo-patriottico,
si vede chiaramente che si tratta di una falsa vittoria: i voti rubati
saranno la maledizione dell’America nei prossimi quattro anni e purtroppo
anche la maledizione del resto del Mondo, costretto a subire, a causa
di quei voti, l’arroganza di un dittatore bigotto, accecato dalla
presunzione e dai pregiudizi, motivato dalla necessità di nascondere
i suoi errori, capo assoluto del più potente esercito del mondo.
Crassamente ignorante.
Le cause del disastro elettorale
Il risultato elettorale è conseguenza della distanza che nel corso
degli anni ha diviso la leadership culturale e i luoghi dell’elaborazione
critica-ideologica dal “mainstream”. Un vuoto che è stato
colmato dall’infomazione strumentale e dalla propaganda. Con l’annullamento
delle capacità critiche e di valutazione è stato facile
contrabbandare bugie grossolane, falsificazioni, informazione strumentale,
e manipolare la massa acritica degli elettori.
Una rottura così forte tra la cultura e leadership civile e il
“mainstream” richiede seria riflessione: l’ignoranza delle
masse ha origini e motivazioni che sono responsabilità culturali
diffuse. Queste vanno cercate e analizzate per evitare che la tragedia
diventi storica e permanente. George Orwell (1984, Animal Farm) e Aldous
Huxley (Brave New World) avevano dipinto con precisione e fin dagli anni
30-40 questa plausibilità.
Nei prossimi quattro anni l’America pagherà duramente per
questa sconfitta della ragione: l’efficacia dell’attacco alle
Torri si è dimostrata mostruosamente superiore a qualsiasi speranza
di Osama grazie alla sistematica strumentale amplificazione fatta da Bush
& C. Al Qaeda proromperà e si diffonderà nel mondo alimentata
dal collateral damage e dalla ferocia repressiva di un esercito USA esasperato
e frustrato e dei nazi Israeliani in Palestina, l’Europa vedrà
il moltiplicarsi d’iniziative terroristiche islamiche provocate dalle
“fatwa” degli Imam e degli Ayatollah (l’assassinio in Olanda
di Theo van Gogh è un segno preoccupante), la tragica sconfitta
in Iraq non sarà più occultabile con le bugie delle televisioni
di servizio, il pauroso deficit Americano trascinerà disastri finanziari
in tutto il mondo, disoccupazione e povertà renderanno invivibili
le città, il controllo poliziesco sistematico e diffuso trasformerà
interi paesi in galere, un nuovo e più feroce Maccartismo intristirà
i cervelli e il pensiero.
Il sogno americano è già diventato l’incubo americano.
Preso nella catastrofe Bush (the malevolent Mickey Mouse seconda la micidiale
definizione di Arundhati Roy) diventerà sempre più arrogante
e malvagio in un ciclo perverso tragico.
Il
guaio è che, come il loro nefasto presidente, anche molti Americani
che lo hanno votato non avranno il coraggio di ricredersi.
Conclusione
Questo quadro non deve scoraggiare i laici pessimisti non omologhi:
when the going gets tough, the tough get going…
L’impegno laico non omologo e doverosamente scettico ha come categorica
responsabilità quella di mantenere costante, e di combattere
per realizzare, il progetto di un mondo dove si possa vivere senza dei,
senza vangeli, senza corani, senza inesistenti verità rivelate
e senza falsi rivelatori d’inesistenti verità, dove la vuota
dialettica di filosofi pessimi non avveleni la vita con falsi dettati,
peccati e colpe.
