MEDIA RELEASE

Code of Conduct for WA Cleaning Industry Released

" On Friday evening 5 May 2003, John Kobelke, Minister for Consumer and Employment Protection, formally released the WA Cleaning Industry's Code of Conduct.

" It was appropriate that the Code was launched at the Cleaning Excellence Awards Presentation Dinner, the Master Cleaners' Guild of WA's premier annual event, which recognises exceptional practices by employees, suppliers and companies in the industry.

" The Code of Conduct, developed voluntarily by the Guild in co-operation with Department of Consumer & Employment Protection, is intended to safeguard the interests of the industry's clients. In line with the Guild's objectives, the Code provides guidelines to businesses in the industry to ensure a minimum standard of client service and professionalism.

" It also ensures that the clients of Code Participants have access to an effective dispute resolution procedure through the Master Cleaners Guild of WA.

" The Code of Conduct is available on the Guild's web site in the Publications section.
