Corvine Projects is an web based application where people interact with each others experiences and ideas over several user defined projects. If you're reading this chances are you already have got everything to start using Corvine Projects. You will need a browser with javascript enabled and, unless you're operating solo, you will need a connection to the internet. Many public libraries offer these facilities for free.
The power of this software is that while users are working independently in the real world their knowledge is brought together whenever a project is queried. For example John may be growing apple trees in Tasmania and in order to make good the iodine deficiency he mulches them with seaweed. He notes that in addition to this the seaweed makes the apple trees grow really well and helps to protect them against the dry.
In Argentina Pedro queries Corvine Projects and searches for seaweed since he has got lots on hand. He notices John's entry and decides to check his soil for iodine levels. He also notices Grace's entry in Indonesia where she decided to cook seaweed as a last resort and to her surprise found her family recovered very quickly from malnutrition. Grace does not have her own computer but used the one at the public library.
Corvine Projects started life aimed at small business where there would be one or two supervisors making entries on behalf of their staff. Due to this the users are distinct from "employees" who could in fact be anyone. Corvine Projects had improvements when I became concerned about peak oil. Realising the software's potential I decided to make Corvine Projects "think big".
As times get harder there is the looming threat of chronic food shortages. Will you be affected? I don't know. What I do know is that if you wait for the day when you can answer that question for yourself it will be too late to prepare. If you get ready now and you are lucky enough to not need your preparations then who knows, maybe you helped a family on the other side of the world to feed itself.
Families pull together when times are hard and not everyone is going to be using a computer. There are many families across the world who do not have a computer at home but may use one at a public library. Quite often a whole family may be working on various aspects of the financial crisis. They may make notes in a diary, give them to the one user who periodically enters them into a computer which is not owned by the family.
Right now you're probably chomping at the bit to get into Corvine Projects. If you're going to host your own copy then you'll have to contact me, Edward, or find yourself a geek.
Now that you've got an idea of what Corvine Projects is about you're ready for the instructions. Enjoy the software.
