Alpine Training

This group of intrepid Snowy workers headed for the heights to undertake a basic Alpine Survival course for a couple of days.

Climbing to the summit of Mt Stillwell (behind Charlottes Pass)

Navigation practise on Mt. Stillwell.

Constructing a snow cave

Cooking dinner below the snow line. (We woosed out of camping in the snow cave as conditions deteriorated on the main range - part of Alpine survival is knowing when not to stay out on the Main Range!)

On the second day we undertook a search and rescue excersise in a blizzard. Here we are locating the missing and injured person on the "edge of the precipice"

One of the intrepid rescuers!
