ITALY In Italy there are three certificates that together make up a police clearance. You must have:
a) Certificato Penale Generale (General Penal Certificate) from the police.
b) Certificato Del Carichi Penale Pendenti (Pending Charges Certificate) from the Solicitor General's Office.
c) Certificato Del Carichi Penale Pendenti (Pending Charges Certificate) from the magistrate's court.
If you are an Italian citizen, apply for your certificates from the following places:
a) Certificato Penale Generale from the Provincial Criminal Records Office in your place of birth.
b) Certificato Del Carichi Penali Pendenti at the Solicitor General's Office in your place of birth, or where you live now in Italy if you have moved from the district where you were born.
c) Apply for your Certificato Del Carichi Penali Pendenti at the magistrate's court in your place of birth, or where you live now in Italy if you have moved from the district where you were born.


If you apply to the above authorities in writing, it can take six months to obtain your certificates. So either go in person, or arrange authorisation for a relative or friend to apply for you.


If you are not an Italian citizen, apply for your certificates from the Italian Diplomatic/Consular authorities.
