This section is for Australian citizens or residents, or eligible New
Zealand citizens, to bring a partner of the same sex into Australia. Both of you must be
over 18 years of age, and be able to show your commitment to each other is both genuine
and long-lasting.
To begin with you will have to pay AUD$10 for your visa application forms. Then you will be asked to
pay AUD$1055 for your permanent visa. This will allow you to
become resident in Australia for two years on a provisional visa. After two years, if your
relationship is steady and successful, you will be granted a permanent visa and you can
then apply for citizenship. This is a long and expensive business, and you could lose your
money if the application fails.

To save yourself AUD$1065,
if the application fails (and a great deal of work and worry) you can do a self-assessment
to find out your chances of approval.
