Distinguished tallent migrant is a small category for especially talented migrants, particularly in the arts or sports. You will need a recognised authority in Australia to back your application. The authority in Australia can be an individual or a group, and they need to be in a position to judge your ability, so that they can testify in writing that the talented migrant is truly outstanding in his or her field. For example, if you are a research chemist, you need a fellow research chemist of good reputation in Australia who can vouch for your exceptional talents. If you are a sporting star, ask someone like the Australian sporting organisation in your sport.

However, you will have to go through the usual screening for health, character and family clearances, and this section costs as much as the others - AUD$1075 non-refundable for your application, and a further AUD$10 for application forms, English language tuition for each adult family member without English AUD$2285 and then there are all the costs of gathering together your documents, photographs, certificates and references.
