Some really great Aussie Drag Racers

Let me introduce you to some really great people. Some of these guys came over to Perth to race. We happened to have these guys stay with us while in Perth for the Westernationals. Now you ask yourself was this a good move or a bad one ..... well all I can say was it was a good one ... hmmmmm let me think about that again.ö¿ö. Oh yeah a definite good move .. made some good long time friends. :)

Shane Baxter could of won the number one plate this year but unfortunately when he came here to run his CC/A Altered he pulled a red cherry. Then his last meeting for points was our Winternationals that is held at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland and what did he do there .... pulled a red cherry. He has now licked all his wounds and is ready to come out again this season and go for the attack again. Maybe this time he would have learned how to drive (sorry there Shane) hahaha. No red cherrys, for you folks that are learning about red cherry's it is the red light at the bottom of the drag racing tree. It is suppose to be green and if you red light you are out .. see ya later don't come back .. and that is what happened to Shane.

Shane came over with his crew of Bob, and Dale they worked real hard to get him down the track too. They deserve recognition as they put their all into the race. Plus they did a good job of slapping Shane around afterwards :).(Then again we all did!)Shane's race car can run a really great numbers a 6.95 @ 191mph in Adelaide, the fastest for his class. So it was well within his reach the No 1 plate. At Ravenswood he ran a 7.17 @ 189.50mph so you could just see that he was having problems getting to grips with the track. At Willowbank Raceway for the Winters his best was a 7.02 @ 192mph.

After every meeting at Ravenswood the usual thing is to have a BBQ and a few drinks and just recap on the events of the evening. Of course the next day you are a little under the whether, where it was self inflicted or not, you are either tired, or over hung. We had a little get together of people on the Monday afternoon. It was before we had to make sure the guys got off to the air port so a couple of people came around. One of them being Mr Brett Stevens (no not the famous Brett that rides a Nitro Harley) but the correspondent for Dragster Australia while he was in Perth. He has since moved back to Adelaide.

We had the one of our great stewards pop in ... Mr Ian Shaw .. he is a white man, use to work for the race track but they would not listen to him so he chucked in his gloves and then came to volunteer for the ANDRA side of racing. He has racing in his blood. We had a friend Freebie, who use to work for Dragster as well he was here collecting all the scoops for the Dragster magazine, plus Ray, myself and the rest of the crew. All had a good afternoon. Then it was off to the air port and see that these guys got home ok. While at the airport after a few more drinks, Dale wanted to show us his tatoos .. we said ok .. not knowing where these puppies were he decided to pull down his shorts and show us ... and there they were on each side of his butt. He wanted to show us more but his Driver (Shane) said "I don't think so" we all laughed and then it was time for them to get on the plane .. it was a sad thing to see them go, but we have found some really true friends there. So all you people and racers watch out for Shane and crew next season and we wish him all the best.
