From the makers of the DriveKey, Wii Key 2, D2 Pro, D2C Key, & WiiKey 1 comes the Wii Key Fusion. The Wii Key Fusion not only allows games to be played from DVD discs like conventional mod chip solutions (v1 to v3 Wii compatibility only, v4 requires a dvdrom board swap) but also plays games directly from the SD card slot. Multiple games can be loaded to a single SD card supporting up to 32 gigabyte SDHC, SD, and even micro SD cards with a SD converter. This will be a welcome addition to those who have found backing up their game iso's to optical discs time consuming or hit & miss. The SD readibility also removes the 3x speed read limit found with conventional chips allowing games to load much faster at 6x speed. Sadly the WiiKey Fusion lacks the much heralded game-backup feature of the WODE (allowing discs to be backed up from the Wii in the matter of minutes) which is why we always reccomend the WODE and also does not support USB hard disks or thumb drives, but at this price the WiiKey Fusion is sure to be a winner. If you think of the Wii Key Fusion as a DriveKey with the ability to play games from SD cards then you’re pretty much on the right track. Best of all the Wii Key Fusion supports both the .iso format as well as the truncated .wbfs format popularized by the USB Loader. With the .wbfs format in some cases it's possible to shrink 4.7 gigabyte game discs down to as little as 300MB allowing several backup games to be stored on even tiny SD cards (up to 32 Gigabytes supported). The WiiKey Fusion also packs a brick blocker out of the box that allows potentially dangerous updates to be blocked (use & update at your own risk). Iso and wbfs loading is controlled by an easy-to-use graphical interface making this Wii chip dubbed the Wii Key 3 one of the easiest ISO loaders to use on the market.

Wii Key Fusion offers full functionality with V1 to V2 Wiis (LAH1000xxxxx to LAH1162xxxxx Wiis) allowing backups to be played from both game discs and SD cards. For V3 and V4 Wiis including the new black Wii the WiiKey 3 cannot play backup games from discs. Usually for a V4 Wii we would not recommend the Wii Key Fusion if the customer already has a collection of backup game discs as a DVD board swap and a conventional Wii Key 2, SunKey, or DriveKey installed for only $129 restores the ability to play overseas or backup game discs. For V4 Wii owners the Wii Key Fusion allows games to be played from SD card only, this is the preferred and cheaper option in the long run if your game collection isn’t overseas or backed up to game discs. Of course if you have a v3 Wii and are set on the WiiKey Fusion you could do a DVD-ROM board swap for an additional $50.00 but at this price we'd thoroughly recommended the WODE Jukebox due its more advanced features including USB hard disk & thumb drive, as well as the game ripping facility to backup your game discs.

We choose hardware Wii mod chip (Wii chip mod) solutions because they are long-term unlike Softmod Wii solutions. Wii softmodden options like homebrew channel Wii, USB Wii Loader, and other software-based Wii unlocker solutions are dangerous because once a Wii update (update Wii) is installed via playing new games or going on the internet the Wii softmod is deleted or even worse the Wii can be rendered useless. The Wii homebrew channel is the first sign you have a Wii soft mod; however its not a defenite sign as a hardware Wii chip can still be powering homebrew for Wii. Instead look for USB Loader GX and Wii backup launcher programs that signal that you have a Wii modded (mod wii) without a chip.
