MONICA McGHIE

I was born in Bunbury Western Australia in 1963. My disability is called total Amelia, in medical terms means 'without limbs' In 1964 my family and I shifted back to Perth so that I could receive Physio and Occupational Therapy daily. Being one of seven children I had a rather interesting childhood and was included in all my family's activities, including horse and motor bike riding, trampolines and diving off the boards at the swimming pool, etc. In 1970 I commenced Yaringa Primary School which was associated with the Western Australian Society for Crippled Children. After major surgery in 1976 it was suggested I took up a hobby hence the beginning of my art career. Over the past three I started going scuba diving which has influenced me to paint underwater scenes.
