to announce that Sarah is coming to Launceston again to share her
immense wealth of tango knowledge & skills with us on 19 to 21 of
October 2007 at Stompin Dance Studio (The Quadrant Mall in
Launceston). Sarah
has
developed an exclusive and proven tango teaching methodology called
“Molonglo”, which is based on social Argentine tango and is
excellent for adults with no previous dance training, as well as
dancers at a high level wishing to maintain condition and extend
their understanding of the dance - and everyone in between.
Sarah has also recent experience performing &
teaching Tango in Argentina. For Sarah's biography, please visit her
website at
www.tangomolonglo.com
**

Dance tango tonight! A crash course in everything you need to begin
your tango journey. No partners or experience necessary! If you can
walk, you can tango.
**
20 & 21 Oct 07: 6 x 1.5 h workshops - $ 25 per workshop:
Classes are progressive, each one building on the previous. The
contents of each class will be determined by Sarah, based on the
actual level and abilities of the majority of students in the
class*. Class 1 will begin at the beginning, and the series will
progress as far as is possible over the course. Each class will
include elements of technique and musicality.
It is recommended that
more advanced students attend all classes, in order to become
familiar with the technique and theory. An understanding of this
will enable access to more advanced material. Workshop times on
Saturday & Sunday: 10 to 11.30 am, 1 pm to 2.30 & 3 to 4.30 pm

Two to Tango -
Check on 25 August 07!
Adult Education
Tasmania will be offering a beginners class in traditional Tango – a
gentle, intimate, exciting form of dance. Tango is also a social
dance, and can help to improve co-ordination, balance and
relaxation. What your course will cover: Balance exercises; Milonga
Etiquette; Basic Steps; Change of directions; Pivots, leading and
following; Tango resolution and finishes. What you can hope to
achieve: Learn basic steps and gain an understanding and love for
the music and movement of the Tango. Physical benefits of dancing
the Tango include that it utilises nearly all the muscles of the
body and is therefore an amazing workout. It improves posture,
co-ordination and balance, and is relaxing, thus reducing stress. It
is also a wonderful way to reconnect with other like-minded people
in a fun, friendly, healthy environment.

The Northern
Club offers a Tango evening!
After running for a
long time only beginners classes, we are very pleased to now being
able to offer a supervised Tango practica to advanced tango dancers.
The practica will be supervised by Carmencita and Wei, who will show
us more advanced tango movements, which we can then practice
together. The Northern Club has kindly offered their inviting space
– an aristocratic home like venue has a very pleasant bar with
leather lounges, wood fire, Tango music, great floor and much more.
The practicas are every Wednesday at 7PM at the Northern Club
@ 5/61 Cameron Street, Launceston. There is no fee for the practica.
Instead we ask you to purchase drinks and food from the Northern
Club as return for allowing us to use their space. Please note that
Wednesday evening supervised practica is by invitation only to
ensure maximum benefit for more advanced dancers.

Tango & Yoga:
A sweaty little tango parlor can become a sacred space where one can
dance through memories and karma. GOSWAMI KRIYANANDA, founder of the
Temple of Kriya Yoga on Chicago's west side, says that Westerners go
through life with insatiable appetites, spawned by our ego desires,
and as a result, true nourishment eludes us. He encourages
pratyabara (sense withdrawal), and urges detachment from desire
through practicing pranayama, mantra, and yoga. But I find
disengaging from the physical body a frustrating if not futile
process. Instead, I have found another technique to liberate the
soul: tango. Chicago-based writer and hatha teacher Deirdre
Guthrie's diet for metaphysical health consists of ample doses of
yoga and tango.

What is 'Tangolates'??
Is a new revolutionary apparatus and system of exercises that
combines the best of Tango with the best of core control movements
in a sequence of fun partner exercises specially choreographed to
the music of Tango. Both apparatus and its mode of use (method)
originated at the rehabilitation ward of the largest public hospital
in Buenos Aires. This rehabilitation ward is regularly visited by
patients with degenerative motor system dysfunctions, who find it
easier to work in couples with an instructor next to them. It
takes two to Tango: The first partner exercises proved to be a real
success. Later on, the Tango music was added. Soon, a new venue had
started. The T-DiTella™ Tangolates™ proved to be not only effective
but also lots of fun for regular clients of all ages who wish to
perform new and versatile routines that are more dynamic and
effective.

Launceston in
2010? Federal
Environment Minister Malcolm Turnbull is condemning our future and
Tasmania's clean and green environment by giving conditional
approval to Gunns Ltd's pulp mill. His conditional approval has set
the emission limits at the levels that Gunns described in its
documents. This will effectively allow poisonous organochlorines,
dioxins and other contaminants to be discharged into the waters of
Bass Strait - waters that our marine life rely on for survival and
that local fishermen and their families rely on for their
livelihood. Don't let Malcolm Turnbull condemn future generations to
the task of repairing the damage of a poor decision made today!
Submissions are being accepted until Friday 31st August and will
only take a minute but your voice will make a difference....
