SOILS

Clay.
Aerate with a garden fork, spread gypsum at about 500 gm per square metre, give a good soak, cover the ground with thick wet newspaper, then cover the newspaper with 150 mm of good compost or a good mulch, and then another good soaking.

Loam.
Compost and mulch.

Sand.
Fork in lots of compost and 75 to 100 mm of good mulch on top of the compost, then a good soaking.

Rock Quarry.
Raised garden beds (see "No Dig Gardens ) or a Jackhammer

Garden Situation
The ideal position of your vegetable garden is where it will receive the early morning sun.
A vegetable garden ideally requires at least six hours of sunlight per day.
