- Two more book reviews: Coraline by Neil Gaiman, rendered as a graphic novel by P Craig Russell, and How the Soldier Repairs the Gramophone by Sasa Stanisic. The two books are amazingly unalike considering that they both, coincidentally, centre on children and are scary.
- An article about an old flute and piccolo I was given at the end of 2008. The flute was made in London about 1840 and played by a young man on the Victorian goldfields in the 1870s.
Recent Events
Concert on Sunday February 8th featuring leading UK baroque flautist Stephen Preston with the Telemann Ensemble, accompanied by images coordinated by local artist (and recorder player) Anneke Silver. The programme included music by Telemann (of course), Quantz and JCF Bach. The concert was presented by the Music Centre North Qld in the Court Theatre, cnr Sturt & Stokes Sts, Townsville and was successful in spite of the flooding rain.
