Download a brochure about the society and the workshop (pdf, 700 kB per page) page 1 - page 2. (The brochure was designed by Michelle Williams, the daughter of one of our members. The brochure is more attractive than this site, but all the essential information in it is on this page or the NQRS Home page.)
The North Queensland Recorder Society Annual Residential Workshop has grown. This year our Guest Tutor will be spending a full week in North Queensland.
Assistance from the Tableland Regional Council Regional Arts Development Fund has enabled us to hold a school workshop in Kuranda on Friday, 12th June. Similar assistance from the Townsville City Council RADF supports a school workshop in Townsville on Tuesday, 16th June.
Hinchinbrook Regional Council is also part of the regional partnership and is assisting the Society with costs of holding the residential workshop in Ingham. Organisers are hoping that the change of venue will make it easier for participants travelling from Far North Queensland and the Tablelands.
Hotel Noorla offers a range of accommodation from two room suites to campsites, so participants will be able to make arrangements to suit their individual preferences and budget. Guests can order meals planned for the workshop or make other arrangements. Please book directly with Hotel Noorla - see below for contact and payment details.
Tuition is $60 per adult or $40 per student for 10 hours. This very reasonable cost is made possible with RADF assistance. Please submit names of participants to the co-ordinator, Lynn, in plenty of time so the music will be ready for you! See below for contact and payment details.
The finale will be a Concert on Tuesday, 16th June, 7pm, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Townsville. This is being organised by the Music Centre North Queensland with assistance from Townsville City Council RADF. It will be a wonderful opportunity to hear professional musicians playing at international standard so be sure to come. Invite all your friends, too!
We plan to make the Saturday presentation by Robyn, followed by the evening meal, a highlight of the weekend. We are hoping everyone will come together for the evening meal.
Looking forward to seeing you again!
Heather Coleman (Pres.)
