Venue: Gumburu, Paluma
Dates: 15th -- 17th September, 2006 (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon)
Tutor: Sue Bethune
The workshop held on the weekend of 15th – 17th September, 2006 was very successful despite the committee's initial worry that we would not have enough participants. This was due to the Townsville Eisteddfod being held at the same time and preventing the local members from travelling to Paluma. Sr. Valerie and the players from Brisbane were lots of fun and we really appreciate their making the effort to come to the workshop.
Sue Bethune from Brisbane was a wonderful tutor. She has a complete dedication to teaching the recorder and managed to organise a very diverse group of players into producing a great sound.
The concert and entertainment on Saturday night was great fun with just about everybody being involved.
Having our meals provided turned out to be well worth the expense and allowed more time to be involved in other activities. The cook was great and the food was really good.
Once permission has been obtained from the participants Malcolm will post some photos from the weekend on this website.
Paluma is a small township in the tropical rainforest on Mt Spec, west of Ingham. It is a 1.5 to 2 hours scenic drive from Townsville with a great swimming area at Crystal Creek half way up the Range.
