The next play day will be on Sunday October 18th, at the Riverside Community Centre, Riverside Boulevard, 2.00 – 4.30. The leader will be Heather Coleman (your President).
The theme is Street Music and this is what Heather says about it:
Street music is the practice of performing in public places for tips. Buskers or minstrels, troubadours or jongleurs, as they were originally known, were responsible for the circulation of popular music in the days before recording studios.
Many famous performers started their careers as buskers: Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Simon and Garfunkel, Rod Stewart and Robin Williams.
There will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to join in and it might be good practice for our annual Christmas busking session.
Please bring music stands, recorders, something to share for afternoon tea, and a gold coin towards expenses.
The AGM will be held a little later in the year but the October meeting is a good opportunity for you to raise with members of the committee anything you would like discussed at the AGM and to enquire about committee roles you might be interested in.
The Telemann Ensemble will be performing in Innisfail on Sunday 8th November, 2pm. Enquiries and further information Ph 4061 8626 http://www.greenantinc.com.au/.
Classes for adults are offered by Heather Coleman on Wednesday evenings. One class is for beginners and the other is guided ensemble playing. Society members and friends are very welcome. Please pass this information on to anyone you think might be interested.
