GOAT NEWS
DATE:
19TH DECEMBER 02
Although
known mainly for his roll as the Wesfarmers Company chairman for a number
of years, taking it from a Western Australian Farmers Coop. The company
during this period has gone from a rural based business to the biggest
WA Industrial Company giving out excellent dividends to its many shareholders.
Many
of the older growers in the Goat Industry would remember Harry for his
work in the early days as a leader in the embryonic Cashmere Industry.
His energy along with a few others saw the marketing of Cashmere change
to a professionally run yet grower controlled system, which is basically
still with us today.
My
contacts with Harry and his wife Margaret came as we started to market
Export and Local Capretto in a more organized way aprox thirteen years
ago. Their encouragement never waned and even after they had sold all their
Goats, mainly because of their busy schedule they had undertaking they
kept in touch with our industries goings on.
On
behalf of all in the Goat Industry we wish Margaret and family our sincere
and heart felt condolences at their sad loss.
ANOTHER
YEAR COMES TO A CLOSE
With
the year 2002 drawing to a close and this being the last ‘Goat News’ for
the year it is time for us all at Wesfarmers Landmark to wish all our clients
a joyous and peaceful Christmas and hope that the New Year brings to you
all what you wish for.
My
personal thanks to all those who have encouraged us with their kind words
and entrusted us with their business over the last twelve months. We do
appreciate it.
The
past year has brought many challenges to most farmers here in WA including
those involved in the Goat Industry. The dry conditions experienced by
many and for some over a three year period will have an effect on our Industry
for a number of years to come. From experience one hopes that these challenging
years will follow the pattern and see something of good appear around the
corner. With everyone's help and encouragement I am sure the Goat Industry
here in WA will continue to be strong.
