EXPORT CAPRETTO CHANGES
To assist growers who are supporting the Export Capretto market in this hard year WAMMCO have decided to pay more for the over 9.1kg carcasses. They will now pay $13.00 for any delivered to Linley Valley or Midland as the case may be and $15.00 for the ones delivered to Katanning Abattoirs for all animals over 9.1kg which meet all other specifications. This will replace the original prices of $8.00 for the 9.1 to 10 kg range and for the over 10 kg which were originally NCV (no commercial value)
Growers should keep an eye on the weights of their kids so as to get as many as possible into the top price bracket. It is a good idea to weigh them when they are around five weeks of age, as this will give you a good idea of how long they will take to get up to the required weight. To get them in the 6.1 to 9 kg top price range they will need to be aprox 14 to 18 kg live weight for Boer crosses while other breeds will need to be a little heavier, especially Angoras which may be carrying a fleece.
Any growers who have not returned their forms are asked to send them in ASAP. If anyone has not received a letter from us please contact us so one can be sent out to you.
NATIONAL MOHAIR SALE
The next Mohair sale to be conducted by The National Mohair Pool is to be held in the middle of October so we will need to close receivals here in WA on the 14th September at the latest.
Growers are asked to fill out a classing form with their clips. These should have the number of the pack and what you have in each one. It is a good idea to place your name on each pack as we have had some problems with some consignments. The ‘Classing Report’ can be either faxed or posted to us at Wesfarmers so we can send them over with the consignment when trucked from WA.
Forms can be obtained from myself if they were not received from the Pool with the last sale proceeds, which should have been received by now.
It is our intention to have a classing day or two for growers sending in Mohair to the Pool in the sale after this next one. WA mohair will be classed here by the Pool co-ordinator Doug Stapleton similar to what takes place in the Pooling centre at Cudal.
