The City of Monash holds various Festivals throughout the year

 

Why Volunteer at City of Monash Festivals?

Festivals are an exciting and interesting way to give something back to your community with many benefits including:

What you will receive as a festival volunteer?

- Information pack with all relevant details and contact person
- Comprehensive training session relevant to your volunteer position
- Coverage under Monash City Council's Personal Accident and Public Liability
- Insurance for the duration of your volunteer duties
- A safe and healthy working environment as far as reasonably practicable
- Certificate of Appreciation acknowledging your contribution as a City of Monash festival volunteer
- Written reference if requested
- Festival Volunteer T-Shirt

 

What is expected of you as a festival volunteer?

- Minimum of three (3) hours volunteer commitment per festival
- Mandatory attendance at a pre-event training session
- To be punctual to the event at the specified times
- To carry out the duties, as per the job description, responsibly and reliably
- To seek help or assistance when required


Volunteer Positions


Please note that all applicants will be required to undergo a Police Check prior to commencement and may also need a Working with Children Check.

Stage Manager (SM)

- Ensure the smooth and timely running of main stage operations
- Liaise with production staff and performers
- Liaise with VIPs prior to speeches
- Brief performers about access and safety
- Supervise MC
- Supervise Stage Assistants
- Some stage management experience is recquired for this role

Stage Assistants (SA)

- Provide assistance to the Stage Manager as required

- Set up and monitor performers green room

- Put signage up on stage

- Tape stage edges for safety

Event Marshals (EM )

- Provide customer service to festival patrons
- Hand out programs or other promotional material
- Direct festival patrons to facilities and attractions around event site
- Survey festival patrons if required
- Provide assistance to Event Coordinator as required

Bump In/Out Site Crew (BC)

- Assist with set up and pack down of event site including signage and decorations

- Assist Depot Staff and Event Coordinator as required

Information Stand Attendants (IS)

- Set up City of Monash information stand with appropriate branding

- Display all promotional material provided

- Provide festival patrons with appropriate information and directions

Clean Up Crew (CC)

- Roam festival site picking up litter and disposing of appropriately

- Assist festival patrons to dispose of recycling/waste in correct bins

- Assist the Waste Management Officer as required

- Notify Depot Staff when bins require emptying
