Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to become involved in your community. At the same time it can provide you with opportunities to meet people, to learn new skills, or use the ones you already have. You might just want to try something new.

Who Volunteers?

Volunteers can be any age or nationality and are invited to discover the number of opportunities available to them. With over 600 jobs listed for non-profit organisations at any one time, MVRC is a wonderful resource for the local community. Chinese-speaking prospective volunteers are now able to phone MVRC on a special phone line (9539 4533) and leave their name and contact number in Mandarin or Cantonese. Our volunteer information officer responds to these calls on Wednesdays.

How to become a volunteer?

The great advantage for potential volunteers is the ability to utilise the knowledge MVRC has of the organisations, the many opportunities available to volunteers, and an understanding of the nature of the tasks available. MVRC offers general and specific training for all volunteers which can be of great advantage to you if you decide to volunteer in one of our smaller organisations that may not have the resources to offer training. When you wish to register as a volunteer you will be interviewed and efforts will be made to ensure that a correct 'match' is made. We will endeavour to answer any questions which you might have and details about the commitment expected for an individual task will be explained.

To become a volunteer, please fill in the Notice Of Interest form or contact us on 9562 0414
