Welcome to the Home Page of Nicholas S. Lander

I am partially retired and work part-time at the Western Australian Herbarium where I pursue taxonomic research with a focus on the Asteraceae or daisy family. I also provide forensic botanical services.

My interest in music of the distant past has centred largely on the recorder, though I play a number of renaissance wind instruments as well as the trombone. In the past I have taught recorder at the WA Conservatorium of Music, and lectured in early music performance at the University of WA's Department of Music. From time to time I teach private students who have exhausted other local resources.

Together with my wife, Lorna, my current pre-occupation is with our two children, Maeve and Sam, whose explorations of the worlds of digital design, mobile applications development, photography, music, law and environmental science bring constant joy into our lives.
