The data in my extracts includes entries that interest me from various Irish newspapers from 1720 to 1865 sorted by family name. Simon's extracts references from Longford / Leitrim / Westmeath / Roscommon and were previously on his site LONGFORD ANCESTRY in a different format. They add some bredth and richness to my own efforts.
Main families covered by my extracts include CROKER, COOTE, DREW, SWAN and others with some relationship with them.
TYPE has the following values NPB = birth, NPM = marriage, NPD = death, NPA = advertisement, NPN = notice, NPS = news story

LC | 1827 | 3 | 21 | NPS | THRUSTOUT | Jack | Jack Thrustout v. Connell.—This wet an ejectment on be title, Lessee William Howe, Stephen, James, Alicia, and Frances Nolan, Plaintiffs, John Connell, Defendant, to recover the house, garden, and plot of ground, in rere of brewery concerns, called the Hospital fields, on the road from Limerick to Cork, near Blackboy turnpike. The lands in question were originally leased by the Corporation of Limerick, in the year 1748, for a term of 40o and 4 score years, to Arthur Roche, at a stipulated rent of £4 per annum. In 1779, the premises appeared to have become the property of John Connell, the elder, on paying the consideration of £140, and he, by his will in 1790, bequeathed them in trust for his wife Barbara, and during her life time to George Smith and John Gabbett, and then to revert to his daughter Christiana Creaghe, sister of Defendant, and sole Executrix. The evidence adduced on this occasion was principally documentary, consisting of the sworn answer of the Defendant to the bill of complaint filed by the Plaintiffs, and on this issue was joined. The Plaintiffs relied for their case on the demise to Christiana, and her will executed in 1815 in favor of her grand-children. Defendant pleaded the statute of limitation and uninterrupted possession for 35 years, and that he had advanced more than the value of the premises to his sister Christiana, who had more than once offered to assign them to him in her life time. His Lordship finally sent the case to the Jury, and, after an hour's consideration, they returned a verdict for Plaintiff's, with 6d costs, finding that the possession of the Plaintiff was only permissive, and not uninterrupted adverse possession as required by law to render it valid. Counsel for Plaintiff—Mr. Bennett, Recorder Waggett, and Mr. Jackson. Agent, John Vincent. Counsel for Defendant .Mr. O'Connell, Mr. Wolfe, and Mr, Howley. Agent, James 0'Shaughnessy. | NickR | |
