Where I go to School.

So far in my life there have been three main schools - my primary school, my high school and my university.

The primary school that I went to is a small, sleepy little school of about three to four hundred pupils. It's called Lesmurdie Primary and it is located about five minutes (or less) walk from my house. It's quite a modern school and it hasn't been around for all that long. I have to admit that if it weren't for the teacher that I had at the end of that schooling life, Mrs. Margaret Dove, I wouldn't have done so well in high school or gone on to Uni like I have done. I think she inspired me to strive and work more than I would have know how to do if I had had the alternative teacher (but I won't go there). So I must say thank you to all of the teachers that I really enjoyed having; Miss Opie, Mr. Evans, Mrs. Ramen and Mrs. Dove (I've forgotten some names, so help me out if you feel I've left anyone out)

At the time, high school seemed like a long time in coming, but now that I think back on it, it no longer seems to have been quite the same distance away. High school was very good to me, on the whole, because there were a lot of people who didn't mind looking past the ugly, fat boy that I had become by that stage and found a guy who wasn't too bad to hang around with. I think that it's the area I live in that allows for such nice people, but sadly it's changing. I doubt that the majority of this year's new comers would have given the same reception. Anyway, I grew out of my flubber (to some extent) and enjoyed high school life as much as I could. I made some best friends and I lost some best friends, but I've come out of it with a great education and I managed to get where I want to go, so it can't have been all that bad for me. There are so many teachers I've got to mention so I made the writing smaller. Here goes: Chris Brown (final year Calc), Bonnie Wallace (final year Applicable Maths), Bill Offer (lower school science), Grant Keenan (final year chemistry), Richard Laslet (my best English teacher), Basil Collins (theatre arts), Neil George (house teacher for many years), Nick Neats (ski trip), Mr. Henrickson ("Baloney! It's 'Newton's Third Law'") and my remembrance to Steve White (my second best English teacher who passed away tragically).

And from there it's a small drive for man but a huge leap for the brain on to University. At the time of writing this, I'm one week away from starting my life at this new school and I'm getting nervous just thinking about it. It will start in just a few days time and I got my first taste of life there at the orientation day (O-Day) which was today. Between the bands around the place (especially in the Tavern) and all of the stalls trying to get you interested in their clubs, it was quite a day. I met lots of old friends from school, as well as some fairly new friends from school, I got my times figured out (I'll have about 19 hrs contact time) and I even got to see some of the course work in the various buildings that I'll be looking at and attending, etc. Fortunately for me, Uni isn't too far away. Infact, I don't have to move cities, as would have been the case for my dad in his time (according to him, anyway). The ease of getting to the place (that's if you don't count the absolutely horrible traffic at times) is one of the reasons I decided to go to the place. I have to admit that I am nervously looking forward to Monday and what so many people tell me will be the start of a new life.
