Romeo + Juliet
The latest version of William Shakespeare's
Romeo and Juliet is a modern day masterpiece. How could anyone ever have
thought that the classic piece of literature (a word that is not very popular
with most young people these days) that is R+J could have turned into one
of the best loved films for young people ever? The thing is that someone
did make a very popular version of the play and people all around
the world love it. I do admit that it isn't for everyone - lets face it,
it does romanticise guns and violence amongst young people and depending
on your point of view, it also glorifies suicide. All these points beside,
though, it's a great love story and it's a brilliant viewing experience.
One of the best things of the film, apart from
Claire Danes (who my friend met on a chat room on the net - the real
person) is the music. I thought that the music was so good because it was
so exciting and vibrant. Everything fit into the film so well and it was
all just so extreme. I've got both of the CD albums and I wish there were
more that I could collect. Oh well, I suppose "a pack of blessings light
upon thy back" with the two I've got, eh?
