StarWars.
Ahh yes, STARWARS... the best ever film
trilogy. These films - especially in the new Special Edition Trilogy - are
by far the most watched and known about films in the whole universe! I
absolutely love these films and they're the first trilogy that I've
ever bought right out.
I could go on about these films all day but
there are so many other sites on the net that say so much more. Instead
I'm going to tell you a few interesting facts about the most famous trilogy
of all time.
For instance, did you know that Harrison Ford
was not the original person cast into the role of Han Solo? That's right!
Infact, he was a carpenter on the set and when the first day of shooting
came and the other actor (I don't know who it was) didn't show, they looked
around the set for anyone with acting experience - Guess who was it!
Also, the only person to take a cut of the profits
out of the films was Alec Guinness (Obi Wan Kenobi). Everyone thought that
the films were going to be a major flop because it was one of George Lucas'
first films and it was really low budget (although you wouldn't think
it). Guinness thought that by taking only two and a quarter percent of the profits
he was helping them out, but it's made him more money than anything else he's ever
done put together.
Also, when Lucas was doing the original costume
concepts for the various characters, Darth Vader was going to have a silk
mask! The costume designer convinced him to give the dark lord a breathing
mask instead - "After all," he said, "they are in space." From this breathing
mask, however, came the story about how Vader was mortally wounded in a
light saber fight with Obi Wan and thrown into a pit of lava. Because of
this, he needed a sophisticated life support system to keep him alive -
and hence he became "more machine ... than man."
