In a country which has as many canals and rivers as holland you are bound to have to wait for an open bridge every now and then.
This is the Polder near Westzaan, not too far from my parents place
The dunes are the dutch first line of defence against the sea. This is a really fragile system of sand and reedy grass which the dutch work hard at maintaining. With half the country below sealevel this is a tat important.

In autumn mushrooms are really common in woods. With august being as wet as it was, these are only slightly early
This flower is called "snake weed". Bees love its nectar.
There are loads of small birds everywhere, this little one is called "koolmees" in dutch. Loosly translated it would mean "cabbage finch". I'll try to find out its propper english name and update this later.
