The pictures of offshore oil rigs are AMAZING. I have always wanted to go out on one and this brings them right to me! I think i am one of the few Californians that thinks rigs are beautiful works of architecture and not ugly things that ruin our horizon!

Travelling on the steamship Amherst in June of 1947 from NY to Halifax and St Johns Nfld. we encountered such a storm with heavy seas that poured over the ship. Every one was seasick including the crew. The color of the water was such a deep green and foamy white. I've never forgotten the fear and yet the thrill of the experience. I have a great respect for my ancestors that sailed the Atlantic waters as fishermen.
