Bircher Muesli - also known as "Soggy Muesli!"
This recipe comes from the Headlands Resort in Hardy Bay, New South Wales, Australia and
was published by Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine, March 1997
- 1 cup rolled wheat
- grated rind of 1 lemon
- 1 cup milk
- juice of 1 orange
- 1 grated Granny Smith (or any) apple
- 2 tablespoons chopped raw almonds
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3/4 cup thick natural yoghurt
- 1/4 cup cream (optional)
- 2 tablespoons sultanas
Soak wheat in milk for several hours, or easiest - overnight. Add rest of
ingredients in the morning, chill well before serving. Yum Yum
Chicken and Champagne Sausages
Poach some top quality chicken sausages in a cup of room temperature
champagne for a few minutes. Finish off under the grill to brown them. Serve with
home-made hash browns and apple glazed in a fry pan with brown sugar. Oh, and
chill the rest of the bottle and serve that too! And don't expect to get much
done for the rest of the morning!!!
