Franz Walter's - Hartop Pacer

1.Please tell us the year, make, model & colour of your ride.
This is my VG7s23 2 door Pacer Mod Pack Hardtop in Bondi Bleach (Alpine) White. Body No. 404 Built Sept. 1970.

2.Was it a restoration project or did you buy it completed?
She is basically the way I bought her (or should I say the misses bought her for me) with the exception of the re-done passenger side and current engine, box and diff. Purchase from Kym's ex. in 2000.

3.Tell us about your ride.
As I said, I've owned the mighty girl since 2000, before that she belonged to Kym & her ex. for 11 years. They purchased her from an ex-copper for 50 bucks, who flogged the crap out of her. We don't have any more history prior to that time. After purchasing from ex-copper, the engine had to be replaced and not long after that the gear box. Unfortunately, we were unable to recover the original block, but at least they (the engine reco mob), used a D231 engine. I'd really like to get a D233A at some stage if I can afford it. Pac-245 now runs a 265 (til I can get the 245 re-built), a 4sp BW box and s/wagon diff (til I can get that rebuilt as well).

4. What future plans do you have for your ride?
Besides what I've already mentioned, she has also been fitted with a sunroof (birthday present to the previous owner), VIP buckets and was T-boned by a P-plater not giving way. The accident allowed me to get the near side re-built and now I'm triing to get the rest of the body re-done, as well as re-building and reinstalling the the rest of her components (other than the 4sp & 3 spoke s/wheel). Unless my Chrysler parts business gets moving again or I win lotto or something, it will be quiet a while before all this can be done. Here's hoping, but for the moment I'm concentrating on getting the motor to run properly. The rest just has to wait.

Greg & Liz Fortune's - VH Pacer Sedan

1.Please tell us the year, make, model & colour of your ride.
1971 VH Pacer 277ci (265) Hemi Sedan

2.Was it a restoration project or did you buy it completed?
I bought this Pacer locally in late 1989. At that time it was registered and served me well for many years as it was, but it was in need of an almost full Restoration.

3.Tell us about your ride.
Modifications,The 265 has been chemically cleaned and crack tested before being bored 0.060” it was then fitted with new pistons which have raised the compression ratio from 9.5:1 to 10.2:1. (E49 specification). The camshaft is also an E49 grind and is attached to a new high volume oil pump.I installed a 600cfm square bore vac-secondary Holley carburetor on a modified 2-bbl manifold, which is an ideal, set up for this engine.Exhaust is removed via Hurricane headers, a 2”system and a red back sports muffler. A close ratio Borg-Warner single rail 4-speed gearbox has also been added, and the interior has been changed to black from the original tan colour. I have done most restoration work including bodywork and paint, except for engine machining and fitting of the windscreens.

The Pacer is also fitted with new door and window rubbers and floor carpets, and I have a set of new seat skins, which will be fitted when the rear child seats are no longer needed. This VH Pacer is one of two, which were factory built Ebony black. Paint code XA. Both cars had T1 tan interiors and had the options B51, A95, Z98. B51, Power assisted front disc brakes. A95, Interior dress up package. Z98, Delete 3 spoke steering wheel. (Standard Pacer and R/T 2 spoke thin rimmed steering wheel fitted). Also both black VH Pacers were sold new through dealer N613. Lewies Chrysler Cabramatta.

It has an all original 250ci (Kew) side valve six cylinder engine with a column shift three speed manual gear box  with overdrive.

3.Tell us about your ride.
This Wayfarer was bought new in Quirindi N.S.W. and served for many years as the local general store delivery Ute, It was then sold to a local farmer for use as a farmers Ute in the Quirindi area. When the Farmer died the Ute remained parked in the farm shed for many years until, The farmers daughter along with her own daughter, set about having the Ute mostly restored. They both used it and did some travelling around Australia with it before finally deciding to sell. At this time I came along and I have been the proud owner since 2001.

I have shown the Ute on many occasions since then and have won two trophies for it, First at the Canberra Chrysler Compendium in 2001and later at the 2002 Chrysler Wake run.
I have also displayed the Wayfarer at Chryslers on the Murray and the All Chrysler Day in Sydney.
This Wayfarer was also featured in Slick 6 packs magazine.

4. What future plans do you have for your ride?
Future plans for this Ute include using it as much as possible.
This is made possible through the club rego scheme.Having two small children under four years old and having no seat belts fitted, it is impossible for the four of us to go out together in it to club events.... So unless an event is local we just take the Pacer instead.
