The Fire & Rescue Service of Western Australia performs many roles, including the combat of fire emergencies and hazardous materials incidents, road accident rescue, as well as line rescue and other situations where the FRS is desired. The Fire and Rescue Service is comprised of around 850 career firefighters and 2 500 volunteer firefighters operating from more than 130 locations throughout Western Australia.
