Speedway Driving Make Safer Drivers

Teach Your Kids to Drive - Get Involved with Speedway Today!

The South Burnett Speedway Club has put forward the proposition that speedway drivers have a lesser chance of being involved in potential fatal or serious motor vehicle accidents on the road.

We believe that if you put a driver onto a loose surface track in a safety controlled environment, that driver quickly learns how to control a car that under-steers or over-steers. Once that skill is learnt, a driver can drop a wheel off a hard bitumen surface onto a loose material under normal road conditions and be able to instinctively know how to control the car to prevent an accident from occurring.

When you put the same driver who has now developed the skill of how to drive a car in a controlled environment, the driver quickly learns how to avoid cars that brake suddenly in front of them. They also learn how to interpret what cars in front of them are doing, so that they can predict what is likely to happen if those cars crash, subsequently avoiding a potential accident.

When driving on the open road, this skill makes a driver subconsciously look ahead. They will see a child's ball bounce onto the road well in advance, and be prepared to stop. They will have the ability to take in the big picture - watch intersections and roundabouts well ahead of reaching them to determine potential hazards.

Speedway drivers become skilled road users. Encouraging your son or daughter to enter the speedway racing scene will not only make him/her a skilled driver, it will create a family fun project in preparing the family race car, and will give him/her an incentive in life.

Anyone can experience the thrills and adrenalin-rush of motor-racing, and speedway is one of the cheapest form of motorsport to participate in.

Kids as young as 10-years-old can do it - so why can't you?
