When was the first time you remember going to speedway... ever?
The very first time I remember going to speedway was not long after I
moved here. I believe I was 6 or 7 and I really enjoyed watching the racing.
When did you start racing, and how did you initially get into it?
My uncle raced, followed by my father racing, my mother raced, my sister
raced and eventually I entered the sport.
Which division did you start out in? If different from your current
division, what made you change?
I began speedway racing as a passenger in two different cars. I would
race with my mum in pocket rockets, then transfer to my fathers street
sedan. I have only raced in Juniors and I am looking forward to moving up
eventually and taking on the big boys.
What can you tell us about your current car?
It's red and black, haha... just kidding. My car has been a lot more
reliable this season. It runs a worked 250 crossflow, including a much
bigger cam and heaps of other new gadgets (legal of course). Its finally
getting faster and getting more competitive, and more importantly, finishing
more races!
Any club, state, or national titles under your belt?
No, I always seem to be having trouble or taken out at titles. I have
been second twice and third once overall in the end of season club
standings.
What's your most memorable achievement or favourite moment in speedway?
My favourite speedway moment occured in my second season of racing. The
show meeting track was showing massive pot holes and nobody could find the
right line, luckily I could and claimed my first and only feature win.
Who is/was your idol in speedway?
I don't really have an idol, but I do like drivers who use their head
instead of their right foot.
What do you think speedway needs to do to increase it popularity with both
drivers and spectators?
More outside action of the club, ie cars on display and the costs of
insurance to go down so more people can compete and entry can be cheaper.
Have you got any other hobbies outside of speedway?
I ride mountain bikes, build custom bicycles and play the drums a little
bit.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be successful and enjoy whatever work I do. I would love to be
able to build custom bikes for a living, and own and manage a cafe on the
side. If I could have my way, I really want to be a rockstar!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully having fun with life and not taking it so seriously. I hope to
be financially secure and to have been overseas again.
Favourite Playstation or Xbox game?
A dice up between Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and V8 Supercars 3
What's your favourite school subject?
Hospitality Studies
Favourite food and drink?
Food - Medium Rare Rib Fillet with Mushroom Gravy, Drink - Canadian Club
+ Coke.
Ultimate road car?
2006 Porsche Carrera hard top
Who do you look up to or admire in everyday life and why?
People who make the most of life and seize every opportunity
Who would you like to thank?
Dad for everything he has done on the car and all the money he has put
into it, and Mum for letting him. Also Keith and Shirl, Trevor Haack, Earl
and Al, without their help, i wouldn't be racing. Thanks to anyone else I
haven't mentioned, but who has kept me going.
