While D'Gaunt has dabbled in the
past there are no activities other than spectating that we currently
indulge in. This may
change in the near future as the Historical Swordplay people get
underway and depending on our level of
involvement with WAMA.
In either case Rapier is a lot of
fun, while less noisy than Rattan combat it still has a lot to offer those
participating. While many see it as a softer
combat form it enjoys a large following of serious students and offers a more structured path
to follow.
Cost wise it is as expensive or
as cheap as any of the other
SCA combat styles,
with big ticket items being
the mask and blades.
Armour
construction does require a different skill set
(and probably a sewing machine)
and generally looks just like garb.
