Sarawath and Tholla's Wedding
Site II Refugee Camp. 1986.

With my friend Sarawath at one of the many refugee camp weddings that I attended. As a foreigner I was treated as a special guest with my (our) presence seen as a sign of good luck. The weddings were serious affairs that traditionally lasted for 3 days, depending on the person's wealth. They involved several changes of clothes and very long tedious and tiring ceremonies.
