Traditional doors in Iran - and perhaps in other Islamic countries - have two door knockers, one for men and one for women. These door knockers have different sounds so that the residents know if there is a man or a woman at the door, thus enabling women to be properly veiled when the knock is answered.
I have a number of photographs of doors; I saw some very beautiful ones and may add to the ones I have posted here at some later date.
