750 gm split peas or red lentils
2 finely chopped and fried onions
3 cloves garlic
1 grated carrot
1 chopped capsicum [bell pepper]
1 - 2 hot chillis finely chopped
1 tablespoon cumin powder
1 tablespoon coriander powder
½ teaspoon cardamon pods
½ teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon red mustard seed
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Water to fill crock pot or large saucepan
Cook until everything is mushy like pea soup
Serve with rice and a green salad
