BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING

Butter some bread on both sides.
Remove crusts.
Line a suitable oven dish.

Arrange layers of :-
Bread
Sultanas [seedless raisins]
Bread
Sultanas
Bread
Add a dusting of cinnamon.

Stack the whole thing with plenty of sultanas.

Pour onto it:-
1 pint milk
4 fluid oz cream
3 eggs
4 oz brown sugar
pinch of nutmeg.

Let it stand for 30 minutes until the bread is soaked through.
Cover and cook for 30 minutes at 325ºF (170ºC).
Uncover and cook a further 30 minutes.
