Meet our piggies
We have had our guinea pigs for over five years now. (That's a long time in guinea pig years!) We have two males. They have very different natures but get along with each other surprisingly well.
This brown fellow is the youngest of the two, though he is also the largest. He's nervous by nature, greedy, and completely uncoordinated when picked up. He likes to lie with his chin on the ground like an overweight dog. We sometimes wonder if he's a fat guinea pig or a small golden retriever.

The little tortoiseshell-and-white chap on the right is the oldest of our piggies. He is unusually active, inquisitive and adventurous for a guinea pig. He is also grumpy if he gets woken up while taking a nap, and will complain loudly. In spite of being smaller of the two, he's still the boss and always leads the way when they are out for a run.
We try to give our piggies a run outdoors at least once a day, normally in the afternoon. While they are out we can tidy the cage without being pestered for food! Here they are resting on their rug while playing out on the patio.

"You don't expect me to play with that, do you?"
Guinea pigs generally don't play with toys, but ours will have great fun with an empty tissue box. They prefer objects like carboard boxes and paper bags that they can hide in -- and chew on.
