More Information

There are many good sites on the web devoted to guinea pig care. Below are some links to the best guinea pig pages we have found. These are a great resource for you to learn about day-to-day guinea pig care - but you should also make contact with a good vet who can give your pets some regular attention.
The Guinea Pig Compendium
Peter Gurney's Guinea Pig Health Guide
Eva's Cavy Page

If you want a good book on the subject, look for Katrin Behrend's book, Guinea Pigs: How to Care for Them, Feed Them and Understand Them. It is much better than most of the books you will find in pet stores, though you may have to obtain it from a library. For a more technical, academic overview, including diseases and disorders, the best book we have found is The Biology of the Guinea Pig, by J. Wagner and P. Manning (eds), New York: Academic Press, 1976.
