KURB

§§    a  new cooperative space on william street   §§

When the former Verge Incorporated was forced from its premises on William St by the East Perth Redevelopment Authority, after a decade and half of hardwork for the visual arts, Perth was left without any artist run spaces.

Now the Verge Inc has been reborn at  KURB   452 William Street to meet the need.

Its aims remain the same,

i)                 To provide cheap exhibition space and facilities for artists, especially experimental artists, who are not supported by institutions or  commercial galleries.

ii)               To promote interest and discussion about contemporary art through publications panels and other public events.

iii)             To act as an independent self  supporting network for artists in western australia.

The new exhibition space KURB is a two window shop front space next to John Hyde’s electoral office.

Non-members will be able to rent the space for $30.00 per day/ $210 per week, members receive a small discount  In order to maintain the quality of the exhibition programme all future proposed exhibitions will be assessed against strict criteria for interest and artistic integrity. Exhibitors will be given support through press releases, the Verge website and publications.

Bookings for KURB  July to December 2002 are open tel  9328 3000 or email  vergeinc@iinet.net.au

The Verge Inc will not take any commission for any work sold through KURB .

Membership of the cooperative has changed. In future most members will be associates, supporters entitled to discounts and priority bookings at KURB invitations to parties and use of the verge space and equipment but not to vote at management meetings.
