Elaria is a roleplay game developed by Josh Newton and Bruce Heavey. This site has been created by us to allow IRC roleplayers the opportunity to develop and play a character in our world and a free form environment.
For those people who have roleplayed with Garrick Darkfire, Elaria is his home, the place he comes from. We are trying to achieve a roleplaying environment on IRC that has fair standards and encourages everyone to play on even ground that everyone understands and accepts.
After some time spent roleplaying on Austnet, it became very apparent that roleplaying in an environment where everything is left up to the individual causes too many problems. Most people left to their own devices do operate very well, but throw in a few idiots and there are too many arguments, too many disputes and too many different people trying to do everything their own way. There needs to be some element of conformity to get everything running smoothly and that simply cannot be achieved by too many people trying to do things in a hundred different ways. The ideom "Too many cooks spoil the broth" springs to mind.
Elaria provides an alternative choice amongst some other fine possibilities and another realm aside from those currently established on Austnet. People who are sick of munchkins, cheats and generally bad RPers are welcome here and you should find none of it within Elaria. All channels are moderated with registered (and good characters) being given an auto voice in every channel of Elaria, so it becomes a network of RP channels and a full realm. Elaria is also intended to provide a richly detailed and interesting world with its own set of creatures, history and characters.
To do this, we propose our system which has been several years in development. It includes dozens of original races plus many traditional ones, a number of deities which (we hope) make sense and a system of magic that is fair to both mages and those whom are not. These aspects are always welcome to be added to by players, so please make suggestions. :)
In any case, these things are all described in more detail under their respective headings. If you are interested in the races, look under Bestiary, if you want to know more about the gods or magic, follow the links to Deities or Magic and so forth.
If you are starting a character in Elaria, please have a look through and you should find some interesting things to get you going. If you are unsure...please ask a GM, someone will be MORE than happy to help you out, or just email us and have a chat. :) Any questions, queries or anything of the sort, just throw them at us. (GMs are people with ops in Elaria channels)
Characters created for Elaria should remain within Elaria. You may wish to transfer a current character that you have into Elaria, and in many cases, this is possible. You will need to speak to a GM about approving your character. Please consider though, that once your character is in Elaria, we would appreciate if you reserved them for playing only in Elaria. The reason for this, is that if you use them in other areas, it can throw a story line or plot completely out of kilter, just like playing in more that one channel at a time.
All in all, we really hope you enjoy this concept. Have a squizz through the site, see what you like and what you don't. As far as we know, a large proportion of our ideas are original and well..WE like them. :) Hey, we'll leave it up to you to look and see what you think. Enjoy.
