By Keith Graham
The spells described here are most frequently learned by adventuring
Life Mages. Healers typically shun the damage causing spells,
although some learn them for use against Horrors or inanimate
objects, depending on their vows.
Most Life Mages have scores of other tools to treat specific
diseases, heal certain kinds of wounds, counteract specific
poisons, even to harvest or process components for other spells.
GMs should feel free to allow Life Mages to treat diseases
and have bizarre implements of healing to use with Physician
skill where it advances the story. At the same time,
GMs are encouraged to have Life Mages research a new formula to
treat a rare disease, or go on a quest to find a cure that has
been lost. These tools and formulas are strictly plot
devices and are entirely under the control and at the discretion
of the GM.
GMs are also encouraged to allow Life Mages to ALWAYS find something
of use in every herb shop and store selling parts of monsters. Even
though it's usually something like a very common oil that's the basis for
many salves, it should occasionally be something they've been seeking for
months. Life Mages should always been wanting to browse the local merchants
everywhere they go.
